Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmitter capable of maintaining an optical output signal at a prescribed level even when the characteristics of a laser diode are deteriorated and temperature is suddenly changed. SOLUTION: The optical transmitter comprises a drive current data storage part 10 for storing drive current data based on a temperature characteristic for maintaining an optical output signal from a laser diode 1 at a prescribed level, a differential amplifier 6 for detecting the level of the optical output signal by a photodiode 2 and comparing the output signal with reference voltage, a temperature data storage part 12 for storing temperature data detected by a temperature sensor 7, a storage part 11 for storing the drive current data from the differential amplifier 6, a data interruption detection circuit 5 for detecting the input interruption of transmitted data, and an arithmetic processing part 4; and is constituted so as to determine the deterioration of the laser diode 1 on the basis of the drive current data, correct drive current control data and control an optical output signal of an initial operation state at a prescribed level.
