SOLUTION: The separator for a battery comprises a porous first film 10 made of organic material, and a second film 20 having vapor deposition particles 21 of inorganic material, formed on the first film. The manufacturing method of the separator comprises a process of supplying the film made of porous organic material into an airtight container, a process of reducing the pressure in the airtight container to 0.667 to 0.00133 Pa, a process of maintaining the inorganic material at a temperature higher than the melting point thereof by 200 to 1200°C in the airtight container, and a process of making the porous film made of organic material run on the inorganic material kept in the above temperature while cooling the upper side of the organic material.
