Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the broken pieces of glass or the like from scattering over a wide range in the inside of an optical unit case etc., when a lamp bulb is broken inside an outer case or when its replacement is carried out. SOLUTION: In the projection-type display device, a lamp box 41, constituted to be attached to/detached from the outer case 2 in which an optical unit case 4 and a fan for sending air being a cooling means are incorporated, is equipped with transparent explosion-proof glass 33 arranged to abut on the light emitting port of a reflector 6b, an aperture part 49 formed between the reflector 6b and the glass 53, a cooling air in-take port 47 taking in cooling air from the fan for sending air to the inside of the reflector 6b via the aperture part 49 and cooling the lamp bulb 6a, and a shutter 54 provided at the in-take port 47, and automatically opening the in-take port 47 by attaching the lamp box 41 in the outer case 2 and automatically shutting the take-in port 47, by removing the lamp box 41 to the outside of the outer case 2.
