VOICE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a voice communication system capable of automatically avoiding phenomena such as intermission of voice, generation of a noise and disconnection of a line before they occur when the transmission speed of a DSL line reduces. SOLUTION: In the voice communication system, customer station equipment 11 is provided with a line speed measurement means 14, a means 15 for calculating a necessary transmission speed on the basis of the number of voice lines and the type of voice coding, a first information notifying means 17 for notifying a voice gateway apparatus 23 on a station side of the information of the line speed and the necessary transmission speed, and a means 13 for switching the kind of voice coding according to an instruction from the apparatus 23. The apparatus 23 is provided with a means 33 for deciding the kind of the voice coding of the voice line housed in the customer station equipment 11 on the basis of the information notified from the customer station equipment 11, and a second information notifying means 34 for notifying the customer station equipment about the information of the decided voice coding.
