PORTABLE DIGITAL BROADCASTING RECEIVER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable digital broadcasting receiver which enables a user to instantaneously start recording a program without being conscious of the free capacity of a recording medium. SOLUTION: A communication function and a simultaneous recording and reproducing function are provided. When the free capacity of the recording medium becomes below a certain threshold, one of recorded contents is saved in a server unit having a large capacity recording area through a network. At the time, the threshold of the free capacity for starting the saving of the contents is dynamically changed. An optimum threshold is calculated by utilizing program recording time, the bit rate of a recording program and the communication speed of the network and the useless saving of the contents is reduced.
