Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL element of high quality capable of realizing an improvement in emission light extraction efficiency and reduction in image unevenness simultaneously, and having little defect or deterioration by forming a stable protection film. SOLUTION: The organic EL element has a plurality of pixel sections 120 arranged on a substrate 100 by interposing an organic compound layer 103 having at least an organic luminous layer 113 between an upper electrode 104 and a lower electrode 101 and an element separating film 121 arranged in the surrounding of each pixel section 120.
