Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive solid laser beam machining apparatus which provides a laser beam having a gradual intensity distribution, and to provide a lap laser welding method for a steel sheet using the apparatus. SOLUTION: The solid laser beam machining apparatus is provided with: a solid laser oscillator of oscillating a laser beam; a beam diameter adjustment means of limiting the beam diameter of the laser beam; an optical fiber of introducing the beam whose diameter has been adjusted; and a machining head of irradiating the surface of the object to be machined with the introduced beam via a transfer optical system. The beam diameter adjustment means is an aperture of adjusting the quality in the beam defined as M2to 85≤M2≤105. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
