PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mobile terminal device which enables a certain range of character strings displayed in its display part to be designated through a small number of operations even if the range designated is wide. SOLUTION: The mobile terminal device includes: an operating part 6 with numerical keys 6a; a display part 4 that displays character strings inputted from the operating part; and a control part 14 which provides control such that if, for a certain range of character strings outputted to the display part 4, the numbers of rows and columns for each of the first and last characters in that range are inputted from the numerical keys, the range is designated as the subject of operation.
