METHOD FOR PRODUCING DIISOPROPYL HYDROPEROXYBENZENE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce diisopropyl hydroperoxybenzene (DHPO) in a high yield. SOLUTION: The method for producing diisopropyl hydroperoxybenzene comprises an oxidation step in which diisopropylbenzene (DIPB) is oxidized to obtain an oxidation reaction mixture (1) containing diisopropyl hydroperoxybenzene (DHPO) and isopropylhydroperoxy isopropylbenzene (MHPO), an alkali extraction step in which the oxidation reaction mixture (1) is subjected to extraction operation using an aqueous alkali solution to obtain a water layer (2) containing DHPO and MHPO, a recovery step in which the water layer (2) containing DHPO and MHPO is subjected to extraction operation using DIPB to obtain a water layer (3) containing DHPO and a solution (4) containing MHPO, and a solvent extraction step in which the water layer (3) containing DHPO is subjected to extraction operation using an organic solvent to obtain a solution (5) containing DHPO.
