Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize the preload to a trunnion and to effectively prevent the generation of vibration and noise from an universal joint while reducing the friction. SOLUTION: In this universal joint, an engagement member 29 is mounted between an end face 24a of the trunnion 24 and an inner bottom face 28a of a corresponding outer ring cap 28 in a pressed state, and the engagement member 28 has a first projecting part 31 engaged with a first recessed part 30 of the inner bottom face 28a of the outer ring cap 28 and a second projecting part 33 engaged with a second recessed part 34 of an end face 24a of the trunnion 24. A center of the engagement of the second projecting part 33 is corresponded to a central axis X of the truncated conical engagement member 29, and offset from an engagement center W of the first projecting part 31 by offset quantity d, an engaged center of the first recessed part 30 is corresponded to a central axis Y of the outer ring cap 28, an engaged center of the second recessed part 34 is corresponded to a central axis Z of the trunnion 24, the second projecting part 33 and the second recessed part 34 includes truncated conical taper faces 32, 35 fitted to each other, and the trunnion 24 is preloaded in the radial direction F.
