Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous vibration damping paint composition having an excellent vibration damping ability and emitting a very small amount of aldehyde compounds, when the paint is dried and baked. SOLUTION: A large amount of aldehydes is generated in comparative example 1 and 2 in which more than 0.2 pt.wt. of a nonionic emulsifier containing an ethylene oxide polymer in a paint composition in which 200 pts.wt. of calcium carbonate is compounded to 100 pts.wt. of an aqueous emulsion containing 55 wt.% of an acrylate copolymer. Whereas, the amount of aldehydes generated is decreased approximately to 1/5-1/10 in example 1 in which the nonionic emulsifier is replaced with an anionic emulsifier. Further, the amount of aldehydes generated is decreased by a similar extent in example 2 in which the amount of the nonionic emulsifier used is reduced to 0.2 pt.wt.. Thus, the amount of aldehydes emitted from the coated films on drying and after drying is effectively controlled by holding down the amount of an ethylene oxide polymer-containing emulsifier used for obtaining the aqueous emulsion to not more than 0.2 pt.wt.
