Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a process for manufacturing a disk rotor in which when a disk rotor made of a metal-based composite is manufactured, the stabilization in the support of a preform can be attained in a casting cavity for the disk rotor while the possibility of the breakage of the preform is reduced as much as possible. SOLUTION: The apparatus for manufacturing the disk rotor comprises a lower die 10 and a movable core 20 which form a casting cavity 18 for the disk rotor; a preform supporting portion 24a provided on a part of the movable core 20; a pressurizing and shaping portion 32 of an upper die 30 for applying pressure upon molten metal accommodated in the cavity 18; and a preform holding mechanism 40 having a holding face 41b which can be brought into a face-to-face contact with the upper face of a second preform 5 which is supported on the preform supporting portion 24a. On application of pressure upon the molten metal, the preform holding mechanism 40 holds the second preform 5 via the holding face 41b to prevent the second preform 5 from being shifted due to an increase in the pressure upon the molten metal.
