PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an unnecessary channel selection with a channel up/down key although a desired channel is already being viewed. SOLUTION: When a channel is selected in the up or down direction through a key input part, no channel selecting operation is performed by a channel selection part if the key input is done through the key input part after the time measured by a time measurement part exceeds a certain time and the current reception channel number of a video receiving device is presented to the user by a channel number presenting means. If the key input is done through the key input part while the time measured by the time measurement part is shorter than the certain time, actual channel selecting operation is performed by the channel selection part.
