ANTENNA DEVICE AND CONTROL METHOD THEREOF

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antenna device capable of switching between an adaptive antenna and an MIMO system, depending on a propagation environment. SOLUTION: The purpose is attained by an antenna device provided with a propagation environment measuring means for measuring the status of arriving waves of radio waves arriving to a plurality of antenna elements; an application region determining value calculating means for calculating an application region determining value for determining application region of beam transmission for forming directivity by all antenna elements to transmit signals, and diversity transmission for forming directivity for each sub-array to transmit different signals, on the basis of the relation between the status of the arriving waves measured by the propagation environment measuring means and beam width capable of being formed by the plurality of antenna elements; and a transmission system switching means for switching to any one of the beam transmission and the diversity transmission on the basis of the application region determining value calculated.
