Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a red-eye correction technique that provides satisfactory reliability without using such complex image processing techniques as pattern recognition nor carrying out such preparations as specifying eye areas in advance. SOLUTION: Skin-colored pixels are detected from image data based on predetermined conditions for detecting skin color. White pixels are detected from the image data based on predetermined conditions for detecting white. Red pixels are detected from the image data based on predetermined conditions for detecting red. The red pixels are assumed as candidates for red-eye pixels. The candidates are recognized as the red-eye pixels on the basis of criteria that use the numbers of skin-colored pixels and white pixels present in areas around the candidates.
