Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of master model for optical waveguide plate manufacture which does not produce a cutting scratch intersecting the optical axis, and to provide an optical waveguide plate manufactured by the method. SOLUTION: A master model for optical waveguide plate manufacture is manufactured by cutting a recessed groove having the same cross-section shape with a desired optical waveguide pattern 2 on the surface of a substrate 1 which is made to be a processing surface by plating steel material, by the use of a cutting tool 3. The tool 3 has a cutting face of approximately the same shape with the cross-section shape of the recessed groove. The tool 3 or the substrate 1 is rotatively controlled so that the blade surface direction defined by the projection line of the normal of the cutting surface of the tool 3 to the surface of the substrate 1 and the optical axis direction of the optical waveguide pattern 2 conform each other at all times and, at the same time, the recessed groove is cut. In the optical waveguide plate manufactured by using the master model for optical waveguide plate manufacture, only the cutting scratch in parallel to the optical axis can be formed even when the cutting scratch is formed in the waveguide (core groove) and, therefore, the optical loss due to the cutting scratch is reduced.
