Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a virtual curved mirror display device presenting external field information taken in using a camera or the like in front of a windshield. SOLUTION: Display light L1 coming from a display part 10 is made to pass through a louver filter 15 to limit the direction of travel of the light. The display light L2 reflected by a mirror 30 is converted into display light L3 as it is reflected again by the windshield 40. With the display light impinging on a driver's eyes 50, the driver visually recognizes a preview image X1 as a virtual image. A preview image acquisition part 70 acquires situations on roads horizontally by means of CCD cameras mounted on a front bumper, a front grille and the like. The distance between an intersection and one's own vehicle is made clear using information coming from a map database part 80 and a one's own vehicle position detection part 90, and the speed of the one's own vehicle is detected using a vehicle speed detection part 100 so that a display is started, for example, 30 m in front of the intersection, at a speed of 10 km/h or less. Once a speed of 15 km/h is exceeded, display control such as ending the display can be performed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
