INFORMATION STORAGE MEDIUM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information storage medium allowing easy and rapid mounting of a new application so as to add a function or a system of new service later, after issuing the information storage medium such as an IC card. SOLUTION: The IC card is provided with a multi-use area having one or more writable blocks and a use information block. The use information block stores service specification information such as service ID and an addresses of the writable block, about each of the writable blocks. The use information block is provided in a prescribed address such that anyone can read the use information block. When desiring to mount the application for providing the new service to the already issued IC card, contents stored in the use information block are read, the address of an unused writable block is read, and the application is written.
