Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preparing a carbon black that is extremely excellent in jet-blackness. SOLUTION: The carbon black has the pore radius of 50 or less of the maximum frequency in the pore distribution histogram by 10 interval between 10-100 measured by a mercury porosimeter and the pore volume of 0.15 cm3/g or more belonging to the maximum frequency band. The carbon black is prepared by the method comprising a contact step of contacting with a gas containing nitric acid to produce a nitrogen oxide on the surface of the carbon black, thereby forming the acidic carbon black and an elimination step of eliminating the nitrogen oxide by activating the acidic carbon black.
