SELF-SETTING COMMUNICATION MODULE ADAPTABLE TO VARIOUS HOST SYSTEMS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication module which acts a protocol compatible with a host system automatically. SOLUTION: A communication module (12) having a host interface port (24), a network medium interface port (26), and a protocol handler (28) is disclosed. The host interface port (24) is connected with MAC interface (18) of a host system (14). The network medium interface port (26) is connected with a network medium (20). The protocol handler (28) discriminates a communications protocol with compatibility from the host system, and makes self-setting, according to identified compatible communications protocol, a transmission between the host interface port (24) and the network medium interface port (26).
