Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for delivering an email message with an indication of presence of a sender to a receiver. SOLUTION: The message receiver can automatically respond to an email message using a non-textual form of communication. A client-side presence-enabled email application process (i) retrieves email messages from an email server of a user, (ii) queries a presence server to determine the presence of the sender of each retrieved email message, and (iii) presents the retrieved email message(s) to the receiver with an indication of the presence of the sender. In addition, the presence-enabled email application process allows the message receiver to automatically respond, for example, by an email, an instant message, or a telephone call to a device where the sender is believed to be present.
