Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To disperse energy in a line, and to prevent ringing on the line. SOLUTION: Communication is made by transmitting a packet via the line in a network, having a plurality of nodes interconnected by the line, such as a twisted pair cable, and the end of the packet is indicated by the transmission of a first pulse. The first pulse has known polarity and a specified length that is longer than the length of a pulse used for indicating data in the packet. The first pulse is transmitted to the line and then a second one is transmitted to the line. The second pulse has polarity opposite to that of the first pulse and length that is nearly equal to that of the first pulse. The line is clamped after the second pulse.
