SOLUTION: In this cooling device 1 for cooling a house top and the like by utilizing the vaporization heat obtained by supplying the water to the house top and a veranda, the cooling device 1 comprises a temperature sensitive water absorbing/discharging polymer 5 as hydro-gel which is insoluble in water, includes a large amount of water, absorbs the water at a temperature lower than a predetermined specific temperature-sensitive point, does not absorbs the water at more than the temperature-sensitive point, and discharges the absorbed water, and a case 3 which accommodates the temperature-sensitive water absorbing/discharging polymer 5, and has a water supply hole 7b for supplying the water to the temperature-sensitive water absorbing/discharging polymer 5 and an opening 11a as a water discharge hole for discharging the water discharged from the temperature sensitive water absorbing/discharging polymer 5 to the cooled object.
