Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel pump for keeping a desired gap between a fuel pumping element and a pump plate. SOLUTION: The fuel pump has an electric motor and the fuel pumping element. The electric motor includes a stator, a rotor, and generally cylindrical tube. The fuel pumping element is driven by the electric motor to take in fuel, and discharge the fuel under pressure. The fuel pump includes the pump plate having a face adjacent to the fuel pumping element, and further having a support surface, and one end of the cylinder is brought into contact with the support surface. At least one of the support face and the end of the cylinder is discontinuous so that the tube is not supported on the support surface along the entire circumference of the end of the tube. Therefore, distortion of the pump plate is minimized under loading from the tube with the fuel pump assembled. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
