PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an original moving type image reader provided with a plurality of image sensors, which corrects deviations with high accuracy. SOLUTION: A deviation correcting reference pattern 5 is provided to a shading correcting white roller 6 and a plurality of the image sensors 4 for reading an original reads the reference pattern 5. In the case of reading the reference pattern 5 for correcting deviations in joints of images, the reference pattern 5 can be read with high accuracy by stopping the white roller 6 or making the circumferential moving speed of the white roller slower than an original moving speed. Further, the white roller 6 is read before or after the reading of the reference pattern 5, and the shading is corrected on the basis of the read data. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
