Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve effectiveness of the average of acquired values representing road gradients about a plurality of points in a road segment. SOLUTION: A car navigation system 1 is provided with an internal memory control system 16 storing map data, and acquires measurement values of the road gradient at the plurality of points in a link of the map data (step 205). In the case a variation coefficient (i.e., function of standard deviation and average) indicative of the variation in the values of the road gradient is not less than a prescribed threshold, information of nodes which are used for further dividing the road segment so as to reduce the variation, is stored in the internal memory control system 16.
