ELECTROOPTICAL DEVICE, AND ELECTRONIC APPLIANCE EQUIPPED WITH ELECTROOPTICAL DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrooptical device capable of fixing a display panel with a sufficient strength, and to provide an electronic appliance equipped with the electrooptical device. SOLUTION: The electrooptical device is provided with: a liquid crystal display panel 10 which displays an image; a lower polarizer 30 which is stuck onto the lower side of the liquid crystal display panel 10 and has a projection region 30a formed to be made larger than the outer size of the liquid crystal display panel 10; a backlight part 40 which is disposed on the lower side of the lower polarizer 30; and a reflection case 60 into which the liquid crystal display panel 10 is fitted and which prevents leakage of lighting light emitted from the backlight part 40. A groove 61a, into which the projection region 30a of the lower polarizer 30 is inserted, is formed on the inner face of the reflection case 60. A light shielding double sided adhesive tape 70 fixes the lower polarizer 30 and a fixing region A including the groove 61a and a flat part 63 of the reflection case 60 and an ineffective display region B of the backlight part 40.
