Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drive pipe base pushing method which facilitates introduction of a drive pipe into a starting shaft without interfering with base pushing jacks, even if the inner diameter of the starting shaft is small, and to provide a drive pipe base pushing apparatus. SOLUTION: According to the method, the two base pushing jacks 28, 28' mounted on a sliding stand 26 which is arranged in the starting shaft 12 in a manner reciprocating along a driving direction, are arranged on and below the sliding stand 26 so as to sandwich the same. At the time of introduction of the drive pipe 18 into the starting shaft 12, the upper base pushing jack 28 is swayingly movable between a vertical position which allows the drive pipe 18 to be introduced into the starting shaft 12, and a horizontal position in which the jack carries out driving operation.
