SAFETY DEVICE FOR CARGO HANDLING VEHICLE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safety device capable of preventing a cargo handling vehicle from coming into contact with an obstacle positioned above the vehicle without lowering the workability of a carrying operation by the cargo handling vehicle. SOLUTION: The obstacle positioned above the cargo handling vehicle in the forward traveling direction comprises an identifier in which the height of the obstacle is stored, an alarm device, a receiver, and an alarm control device operating the alarm device based on signals received by the receiver. On the other hand, the cargo handling vehicle in which a liftable lift is installed on a vehicle body comprises a reading device reading the height of the obstacle from the identifier, a lift detector detecting the lift of the lift, a determination means comparing the height of the obstacle with the lift of the lift and determining whether or not there is the possibility of contact between the obstacle and the lift, and a transmitter transmitting signals of either of pass allowed and pass prohibited to the receiver based on the results of the determination by the determination means.
