Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium wherein high density recording can be performed by reducing a correlation between adjacent tracks or erasure between adjacent tracks due to an in-plane magnetization layer between a perpendicular magnetic recording film and a backing layer formed when the in-plane magnetization layer is formed between the backing layer and the perpendicular magnetic recording film and to provide a magnetic storage device. SOLUTION: In the magnetic recording medium having a soft magnetic backing layer directly or indirectly on a non-magnetic substrate having a disk-like shape, the in-plane magnetization layer formed directly or indirectly on the soft magnetic backing layer and a perpendicular magnetization layer directly or indirectly on the in-plane magnetization layer, a fine circular trace is formed on the non-magnetic substrate.
