PROJECTOR WITH AUTOMATIC FOCUSING FUNCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector with an automatic focusing function which makes it possible to improve the focusing quality of the whole of a projection image when a screen is inclined or even when a screen is in a nonplanar state. SOLUTION: The projector with the automatic focusing function is provided with an image projecting means 2 for projecting a test pattern on the screen and a focusing means 3 for imaging the projected image and performing the focusing based on the imaged image. The focusing means 3 is provided with a range finding means 33 for measuring the range up to the screen based on the test pattern imaged by imaging means 31, 32 and focusing means 34, 35 for performing the focusing adjustment of the image projecting means 2 based on range finding data, performs the range finding with respect to a plurality of parts of the screen and performs the focusing adjustment based on a plurality of range finding data which are obtained. The focusing of projected images is performed based on the intermediate value or the average value of the range finding data on the plurality of parts in the screen and the focusing deviation in the screen is suppressed to the minimum.
