Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glass wall construction etc. which are constructed such that shearing force occurring at the time of an earthquake or the like is borne by a glass sheet. SOLUTION: According to the glass wall construction, support members 2, 3 supporting upper and lower edges of the glass sheet 1 for use as a structural member bearing compressive force and shearing force, are formed of steel products or the like, and the upper and lower edges of the glass sheet are supported by the support members arranged in layers defined by upper and lower structural members 8, 11 and the glass sheet per se, respectively. The upper and lower edges of the glass sheet are brought into surface contact with the support members so as to uniformly transfer the compressive force and the shearing force from the support members to the entire surface of the glass sheet. The upper support member is connected to the upper structural member via a member 9 which does not transfer tensile force from the upper structural member but transfers the compressive force and the shearing force within a safety factor. Further, one end of the transfer member is connected to either the upper support member or the upper structural member, while the other end of the same is fitted into a mortise 10 formed in the other members.
