Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a roll cleaning utensil which can simply and surely remove adherent materials adhered to peripheral surfaces of upper and lower rotary rolls. SOLUTION: The planar roll cleaning utensil 30 is constituted by providing latching holes 34 for being latched to a side guide roll 12 (12a) installed at an work piece entrance of a leveler feeder at both end sides of a long-length metallic thin plate 31 and being integrated by bonding nonwoven fabric (felt) 32 onto both front and rear surfaces of the thin plate 31. The roll cleaning utensil 30 is set so as to be interposed between upper and lower rolls by latching the latching hole 34 to the side guide roll 12 and when an auxiliary utensil (a plate) 40 for rotating a follower roll is sent-in, if necessary, by driving a driving roll of the leveler feeder, the upper and lower rolls are respectively rotated (idled) to the planar roll cleaning utensil 30 held in a form where its back end side is latched (restrained) to the side guide roll 12 and soiling in a region coming into contact with the roll cleaning utensil 30 in the upper and lower rolls is wiped off by (nonwoven fabric of) the roll cleaning utensil 30.
