Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a long wavelength vertical surface emitting laser with a photodetector integrally grown with the same. SOLUTION: The surface emitting laser has such a structure that the photodetector is formed in the lower or middle part of a lower DBR, and that the photo detector is integrally grown with a laser structure. Since the laser uses a non-absorbability of long wavelengths of a substrate, a laser gain can be effectively controlled by detecting a laser beam going toward the substrate.
