POLISHING BELT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive polishing belt having long service life that can improve efficiency of polishing work and provide sufficient polishing finish by reducing time required for frequent change of a grinding wheel mounted to a polishing machine. SOLUTION: The polishing belt comprises a thin belt-like substrate, a buffer formed of a thick elastic sheet material stuck on the surface of the substrate, and a grinding wheel block assembly 10 stuck on the surface of the buffer. In the grinding wheel block assembly, grinding wheel blocks 11a-17a having a predetermined surface area and thickness height are arranged zigzag so that they face to each other on adjacent lines on a plurality of horizontal lines at a substantially equal interval in the width direction of the belt 1, and the periphery of each grinding wheel block is partitioned by grooves 18 and 19 at a predetermined width. The grinding wheel block assembly is formed of one or a combination of polygon, parallelogram, lozenge shape, circular shape, and elliptic shape. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
