Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating type magnetic recording medium having satisfactory shelf properties, running durabilities and electromagnetic transducing characteristics. SOLUTION: In the magnetic recording medium having a magnetic layer containing hexagonal ferrite powder and carbon black on a support body, the carbon black contains 0 to 100 ppm sum total water soluble cations (Na+, K+, Mg2+, Ca2+and NH4+) and 0 to 100 ppm sum total water soluble anions (Cl-, NO2-, NO3-, SO42-and PO43-).
