PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a content reproducing device and a content reproducing method which can start the reproduction from music data at any given position by an instruction from a user. SOLUTION: A content reproducing device 1 is connected to a content management device 3 and receives information regarding the position for the content as a target for the reproduction when the reproduction starts from the content management device 3 based on the instruction from the user. The content reproducing device 1 starts the reproduction from the content identified by the information received as above when the instruction for the reproduction is given from the user. When the user transfers the music content to the content reproducing device 1 or edits the content inside the content reproducing device 1, the content management device 3 decides the content as the target for the reproduction automatically and can transmit the information for identifying the content to the content reproducing device 1.
