PERFUME COMPOSITION CONTAINING NEROLIDOL OXIDE AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a perfume composition containing nerolidol oxide; and to provide a method for producing the compound. SOLUTION: The perfume composition contains the nerolidol oxide. The method for producing the nerolidol oxide involves reacting a specific anion equivalent derived from a prenyl halide with a specified epoxide in the presence of Cu (I). The nerolidol oxide provided by the invention has strawberry- and milk-like fruity and floral fragrant and flavor characteristics having transparency, and is a mixing material useful for a perfume composition. The perfume composition has improved and enhanced excellent perfume characteristics, for example, having imparted transparency and sweetness while providing the perfume characteristics of the nerolidol oxide. The nerolidol oxide is produced inexpensively in high yield by few steps in the production method, and the method is advantageous economically and in development for industrialization.
