Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To disclose a method and a system for detecting objects on the basis of computed-tomographic (CT) data. SOLUTION: Sheet-like objects such as a sheet-like explosive can be detected by analyzing the density of a test voxel and an average density of voxels in its vicinity. The sheet-like objects can be also detected by erosion and expansion operation. Objects can be classified as to whether the objects are threats or not by computing corrected mass through the use of an average erosion density of the object and comparing it with a mass threshold value. Clump-like objects can by detected by a modified morphological Connected Component Labeling (CCL) approach for executing a series of erosion and expansion steps, individually labeling the objects, and separating data-adjacent objects so that analysis may be performed. The system can also distinguish objects containing liquids. The overall performance of the system including overall object detection rates and error alarm rates can be adjusted by individually adjusting the object detection rates and/or the error alarm rates.
