Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine a fine particle amount accumulated in a particulate filter having reliability far higher than a known model and allowing actual execution in an engine central control unit presently used. SOLUTION: A method for determining the fine particle amount (mS) accumulated in the particulate filter determines change in spatial distribution of fine particles in the particulate filter and/or change of a physicochemical property of the fine particles as a function of an engine operating state in the particulate filter and past fine particle accumulation, which is the process of determining the number of basic values (βMAP) of a parameter (β) for defining a relation between the fine particle amount (mS) accumulated in the particulate filter and pressure reduction (ΔDPF) in the particulate filter in the state of a map. Each basic value (βMAP) includes the process relating to a individual specific engine operating condition corresponding to a specified fine particle accumulating condition in the particulate filter.
