Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device of which the power consumption and the cost can be reduced. SOLUTION: The display device is equipped with: signal lines S and scanning lines G vertically and horizontally arranged on a glass substrate 30; a display element 1 formed in vicinity of each intersection of the signal lines and the scanning lines on the glass substrate 30; a signal line drive circuit 2 to drive the signal lines; and a scanning line drive circuit 3 to drive the scanning lines. The signal drive circuit 2 has a VRAM 5 which memorizes the video data for display supplied from a CPU 4 on another substrate different from the glass substrate 30, and has a LCDC 6 which drives the signal lines based on the video data for display memorized in the VRAM 5. Since the VRAM chip 5 prepared in a single crystal silicon process is implemented on the glass substrate 30, data transmission between the CPU 4 and the VRAM chip 5 can be accelerated, and the cost can be reduced since the general-purpose memory chip can be used.
