Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To bring about a state where a driving force necessary for vehicle operation and a braking force generated by regeneration operation can be obtained by managing and controlling the power of each means, in the railway vehicle drive system composed of a vehicle having a generation means and a vehicle having a power conversion means that controls a drive unit, and a power storage means. SOLUTION: The railway vehicle drive system is connected with a first railway vehicle 1 mounted with the generation means 10, a power converter 20, a driving motor, and the power storage means 50; a second railway vehicle 2 mounted with the power converter 20, the driving motor, and the power storage means 50; and each means by a power transmission means 40. The railway vehicle drive system comprises a power management means 100 that controls the power generation of the generation means 10 and a power storage amount of the power storage means 50, the power storage means 50 stores power and regenerated power generated by the generation means 10, the driving motor is driven by the power converter 20 with the generation means 10 and the power storage means 50 as power sources, and thus a railway vehicle is driven.
