Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative electrode material for a nonaqueous secondary battery capable of providing high capacity in real doping time and enhancing cycle characteristics, and to provide a method of manufacturing the negative electrode material for the nonaqueous secondary battery with a simple manufacturing method and high yield. SOLUTION: The negative electrode material for the nonaqueous secondary battery is made of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon provided by heat reaction of a raw material containing pitch as a main component, has an atomic ratio of hydrogen/carbon of 0.18-0.25, a specific surface area by BET method of 0.1-50 m2, and a 10% diameter of 2 μm or less and 90% diameter of 10 μm or less in volume accumulation distribution in particle size distribution. The method of manufacturing the negative electrode material for the nonaqueous secondary battery is that the raw material containing the pitch as a main component is heat-reacted without conducting non-fusion treatment to manufacture the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon.
