VEHICLE SURROUNDINGS DISPLAY DEVICE AND PROGRAM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle surroundings display device and program capable of reducing the amount of rainfall and/or mud splash by the vehicle cast at least on a light input part of an image information acquiring means in various vehicle running conditions. SOLUTION: If a shift lever is in the neutral "N" or the position to indicate advancing (No in S150), a judgement is passed that the vehicle is advancing and the necessity for the image information to show the situation behind the vehicle remains low (S180). If the current vehicle speed is larger than the cover position changeover reference value (Yes in S190), judgement is passed that there is less chance to see the image information given in the indication device owing to the driver's concentration on his driving operation and the necessity for the image information to show the ahead and lateral situations of the vehicle remains low. A cover for a car on-board camera for acquiring the image information as described above is moved to a position to protect at least the lens of the camera. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
