IMAGE RECORDING REPRODUCER AND IMAGE RECORDING REPRODUCING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recording reproducer and an image recording and reproducing method which suppresses WSS components from being reproduced within an effective image area of a display for reproducing image signals containing the WSS. SOLUTION: The picture recording reproducer comprises a hard disc device 9 with a DVD-RAM drive 8 for recording image signals and control information thereof on a recording medium and an MPU 18 for detecting a WSS signal which may be outputted within the effective image area, contained in the vertical interval of the inputted image signal. When the MPU detects the WSS signal contained therein, it records proper information showing that the WSS signal contains on a control information recording area of the recording medium.
