Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a centering method for performing centering of an impulse disk or an impulse ruler with high accuracy. SOLUTION: This centering method is performed at two steps via the aperture of an optical transmission element. In a first step, preliminary adjustment of the optical transmission element is executed out of the sensor range and fine adjustment is made by shifting into the sensor range in a transverse direction in a second step. On a drive shaft 3, a tool carriage, and/or a control slide, or a horizontally or perpendicularly movable machine element, it has the aperture 2 for fixing, so that each edge of the transmission elements is made to face and engage mutually in a sensor range 8 of a device for move control.
