PHOTOGRAVURE PRESS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photogravure press which is constituted by installing a protective cover for matter to be printed, for use in prevention of a splash of ink in an empty unit. SOLUTION: In this sectional-type photogravure press, a plurality of printing units with a plate cylinder 2 and an impression cylinder 1 for applying printing to a web-like matter W to be printed are continuously arranged; a driving part is provided in each of the printing units; and the protective cover 10 for the matter to be printed is attachably and detachably provided between the plate cylinder 2 of each printing unit and the matter W in the removal of the impression cylinder, over a range wherein a width-direction part is set as wide as/wider than the plate cylinder 2 and as wide as/narrower than the inside of a frame 8 of the printing unit and wherein a longitudinal part is almost as long as the frame of the printing unit. The splashes of the ink during outer arrangements of the empty unit, which is not used in the printing, and during idling after that are prevented so that the occurrence of a defect can be prevented, and the web-like matter to be printed can be prevented from being wound around the plate cylinder etc. even on the occurrence of a sag in the web-like matter to be printed.
