Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a deposition amount of scaling onto a wall surface of a liquid reservoir part of an absorption tower caused by remaining of a slight amount of sulfite at an area of poor air concentration by preventing an area of dense air concentration and the area of poor air concentration from being generated in an absorbing liquid in the liquid reservoir part of the absorption tower, in a flue gas desulfurization apparatus carrying out an operation for reducing an oxidation ability of the liquid reservoir part of the absorption tower when a period when the concentration of a sulfur content in a boiler fuel used is less than a plan condition continues for a long period of time and a boiler operation load is low. SOLUTION: When the period when the concentration of the sulfur content in the fuel of a combustion apparatus used is less than the plan condition of the flue desulfurization apparatus continues for a long period of time or the operation load on the combustion apparatus is low, in order to suppress production of an oxidizable substance in the absorption liquid absorbing the sulfur oxide in an exhaust gas, stirring of the absorption liquid for oxidizing the sulfite is not stopped even if an amount of oxidizing air fed to the liquid reservoir part of the absorption tower is reduced.
