Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylinder direct fuel injection internal combustion engine in which stable combustion can be performed. SOLUTION: This internal combustion engine comprises an ignition means provided roughly at a center of an upper wall of a combustion chamber, a cylinder direct fuel injection valve disposed roughly at a center between two intake opening parts toward the exhaust opening side, a projection in a piston upper surface having a ridge line including a cylinder center axial line to be parallel to a flat surface forming an angle less than 90° in a counterclockwise direction as seen from above an engine to a flat surface perpendicular to an axial line of the combustion chamber from the intake opening part toward the exhaust opening part, and deflected toward the intake opening part side over the center of the combustion chamber, and a recess provided in a piston crown surface part reaching the exhaust opening side from the ridge line.
