Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect generation of knocking and its timing with high precision by the unit of shorter time than the ignition interval by measuring ion current. SOLUTION: This device is provided with ignition plugs disposed to each cylinder in an internal combustion engine, an ion current detecting means 2 to detect ion current flowing through the ignition plug, a time frequency converting means 3 to set time zones to allow more than one overlap after ignition by the ignition plug and before ignition of its cylinder or other cylinders, sample ion current values in respective time zones, and determine their time frequency components, and a knocking detecting means to 4 detect knocking based on the time frequency components, and a detection control means 5 to control the time frequency converting means 3 and the knocking detecting means 4 based on input of driving situations.
